Background

Initiated by a family with the support and blessings of the Archbishop, the service got established under the structure of the metropolitan archdiocese secretariat.

Aim

to alleviate the sufferings our brethren bear by sharing their pain and provide them with means of consolation.

Objectives

· Facilitate for the sick to encounter their Redeemer either by participating in public worships or solitude time with Him ever present in the Holy Eucharist

· Facilitate for people with special needs participate in public worships

· Provide better facacilities for the Aged like Large prints and the likes

· Facilitate for the sick to receive blessed sacraments wherever they are be it at home or hospital

· Mobilize groups and individuals to visit the sick

· Create and continuously update a data base of the sick : bed ridden, physically (mobility, visual, hearing, mental….)challenged, being hospitalized …

· Launch a world-wide prayer network

· Establish a Multimedia Library for the sick, the aged and the disabled , their care providers and their chaplains

· Establish Training Centre for Home based care providers

· Collaborate with catholic communities under the diocese and/or under each Parish

· Create link with international catholic movements like FAITH & LIGHT

· Work together with humanitarian organizations like Red Cross Blood Bank

· Assist those with special needs in anyway to uplift their spirit

Immediate plans

· Distribution of wheelchairs to parishes for common use

· Formation and training of volunteer groups at parish level

· Formation of support groups in Europe and North America

· Establishing worldwide prayer networking :

Medicine cure the body, prayers heals the whole person

· Creation of a choir group of people with special needs

· Accommodating people with hearing impediments during Liturgical services

Future plans

· Expanding the Multimedia Library to serve as a resource center for all people with special needs

· Training Home based care providers

· Organizing pilgrims to shrines
